PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE DESIGN
Low.
An experimental language for concise, readable programs, with a compiler written in Low itself.
ExperimentalLow is a statically typed programming language built around clear intent and a small amount of ceremony. Inferred bindings, expression functions, ranges, and collection pipelines make short programs feel direct.
Its native compiler is written in Low and emits x86-64 assembly. An included assembly seed starts the bootstrap process using system native tools, after which the compiler builds the next generation from its own source.
The native target is currently Linux x86-64. Low remains an early language, with broader language features, package tooling, editor support, and additional targets still ahead.
A closer look
Less ceremony
Top-level execution, inferred values, and pipelines support straightforward small programs.
A compiler in its language
The native toolchain bootstraps from an assembly seed and compiles its own source.
Direct native output
The backend emits x86-64 assembly and uses an owned runtime with automatic collection.
